Summary of services:

Eastside Neighborhood Center is located in the heart of East San Jose, considered one of the poorest areas in Santa Clara. The majority of the senior participants are Latino and Filipino. Many of them face economic, language, educational, and cultural barriers. For over thirty years Eastside has provided educational, recreational, wellness, nutritional, and social services to very low income seniors in East San Jose.

Who is eligible?

ENC is as inclusive as possible. Almost 99% of participants are seniors. There are no special criteria needed to access our services. There are two exceptions:

• The Nutrition Program has an age requirement of 60 years old for a subsidized lunch (County funding requirement)

• SALA (Senior Adult Legal Assistance)

Are there any fees?

• Center services and programs free

• Senior social clubs charge a nominal fee

• Nutrition program/Noon meal has a suggested donation of $2.00

There are numerous opportunities, including:

• Computer Class assistants

• Citizenship Class assistants
